Labuan Police Nab Wanted Drugs Trafficker

LABUAN: Labuan Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) has nabbed a 38-year-old local drug dealer who is on the wanted list in drug peddling in the duty-free-island on Wednesday afternoon.

The anti-narcotic team was involved in a dramatic chase when the suspect was aggressive and tried to flee by manoeuvring his vehicle which almost hit police personnel right before the crowd at Labuan International Ferry Terminal at 3.45pm.

Labuan police chief Supt. Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the man had bribed the police personnel when he was about to be taken to police station.

“It was an achievement of the NCID Labuan for being able to nab the drug dealer who had been on the wanted list for sometime…we hope we reduce the drug syndicate here…and they even failed the bribe attempt,” he said at a press conference here today.

Farid disclosed a sum of RM1, 570 and a Suzuki Alto belonging to the suspect were seized by the police for further investigation.

The suspect also tested positive for drugs such as amphetamine, ketamine and methamphetamine.

“The man is actually a recidivist in drugs abuse and trafficking under Section 39A (1) (a), Section 12 (2), and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Drug Dangerous Act 1952.
