Labuan Marine Police Arrested Four Suspected Illegal Immigrants

LABUAN: Police marine here arrested three illegal immigrants and a IMM3 holder for illegal fishing activity in two separate operations here Friday morning.

The first two fishermen aged 25 and 29 (one of them a IMM3 holder) were caught during ‘Op Gelora’ at Pulau Enoe waters.

At least 70 kilogrammes of various marine life, their fishing boat with fishing equipments worth
of RM19, 510.00 were seized.

Sabah Marine Police (Region 4) commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said the boat skipper who possessed no travel documents had shown the marine personnel expired Fisheries License which was an offence under the Fisheries Act 1985.

Another fisherman, aged 22-year-old was arrested near Petronas Methanol waters while fishing there.

“The man with no personal identification admitted to have just worked as fishing boat crew for a month,” he said.

Pajeri said the fourth arrest was on a man who was at the fish landing jetty at Ujung Pasir shoreline during ‘Op Landai Khas’.

“We nabbed him after failing to show travel documents, and all them will be referred to Immigration Department for further questioning,” he said.

The case was being investigated under Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Section 11 (2) (b) of the Fisheries Act 1985.
