LABUAN: All the seven chambers of commerce here have unanimously agreed to establish a single body to be named the Labuan Chamber of Commerce Coalition.
The establishment of such a coalition was aimed at getting together to achieve a specific objective for the benefit of all in the interest of Labuan, economically and socially.
The chambers are Labuan Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM), Labuan Chamber of Malay Entrepreneurs (DUML), Tionghua Chamber of Commerce Labuan, Labuan Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malay Traders and Industrialist Association (Perdasama) Labuan and Labuan Islamic Chamber of Commerce.
DPMM Labuan president cum Member of Parliament Labuan, Datuk Rozman Isli said the establishment of the coalition would help chambers to be stronger in voicing out the Labuan’s economic development needs.
“We should be under one roof and moving towards the same direction to achieve common objective,” he said at a press conference after the chambers meeting at the City College here today.
Rozman stressed coalition which is to be registered with Registrar of Society (ROS) soon would be dealing with the local authorities and the federal government over Labuan’s needs.
