Labuan Chimney Run Organsiers Target 600 Participants This Time

LABUAN: The Labuan Chimney Run 2018 will be held onJuly 7, 2018 targeting about 600 of runners for the second year.

The objectives of this run are to promote healthy lifestyle and to boost one of the historic tourism spot in Labuan which is a well-known mystery Chimney, located a Tanjung Kubong, Labuan.

The chimney was built in the 80’s with twenty-three thousand pieces of red bricks which are imported all the way from England. With the height of 106 feet, the structure is similar as those of British and the usage of it, is still a mystery up till today.

This Labuan tourism icon has been awarded the International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice “and” Sustainable Development in 2013 in the category of historic building architecture.

The international award by The Green Organisation, the United Kingdom allows Labuan selected as The Green Ambassador 2014 for that category.

The Labuan Chimney Run 2018 routes selected to emphasize the scenic and beautiful natures of Labuan where runners will experience two running surfaces such as road and hills.

There will be two run categories, the 9km and 22km which open for men and women including veterans too. The flag off will be at 6:15am for 9km while 22km will be at 5am. All runners will be receiving a run packs which include a run bib, t-shirt and medal.

The Labuan Chimney Run 2018 organise by Absolute Encore (AE) an event organiser based in Labuan, co-organise with Labuan Running Club.

This event also supported by Jabatan Muzium Malaysia Wilayah Labuan, Labuan Corporation and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
