LABUAN: Labuan‘s extreme and challenging sports game, Labuan 3 Trail 2019, will be flagged off on Sunday with 505 participants from Malaysia and nine other countries.
Bernama on its portal today reported the event was being organised by JHK Events, and the one-day race is the third in a series.
It will start at 6 am at the Palm Beach Resort and head towards the Manikar and Pancur Hitam beaches before climbing up and down several trails of Merinding, Bukit Minyak Gas, Bukit Kubong, Bird Park, Chimney and Palm Beach.
The foreign entries are from Brunei, Denmark, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Thailand, India, Canada, Holland and Venezuela, said its race coordinator Jamil Kario.
“I am so proud of what our island has accomplished while promoting this extreme sport … we have showcased these trails and beaches to the foreign participants and provided a needed boost to the local economy,” he added.
Sanctioned by the Labuan Athletic Association and licensed by the Malaysian Sports Commissioner, the event consists of four categories — men’s open, women’s open, veteran men’s open and veteran women’s open — over distances of 21 km and 5 km.
