Head-On Collision Claims Two Lives

KOTA KINABALU: Two men were killed on the spot after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a van in Labuan last night.

Amad Hassim and Mal Parad, aged 40 and 36, died at the scene from serious injuries following the 11.45pm mishap near the Masjid An-Nur traffic light junction.

Labuan police chief Supt Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the car was driven by 58-year-old man who escaped with light injuries.

“The duo was said to have been thrown out of the car on impact while the driver was stuck at the front of the vehicle,” he said.

A team of paramedics from the Labuan Hospital who rushed to the scene shortly after confirmed Amad and Mal had died.

Farid said the van driver, aged 22, also sustained light injuries, adding both drivers received treatment at the Labuan Hospital.
