KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor reminded all the Community Development Leaders (PPM) under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state government to discharge their duties with commitment and integrity to help the people in their respective constituencies.
After witnessing the oath-taking and presentation of appointment letters to 44 PPM at the Sabah State Administrative Centre here today, Hajiji said he wanted all the PPM to assist the government elected representatives to provide the best service to the people.
“If I find there are PPM who fail to discharge their duties and responsibilities, I as the Chief Minister will not hesitate to take action. This is to ensure the aspirations of the ‘rakyat’ who elected the government will be met,” he said.
Hajiji said efficient PPM also formed a strong foundation at the grassroots level, which would in turn, create a strong government.
He said the appointment of the PPM would pave the way for the appointment of other grassroots leaders such as Community Development Officers and Village Security and Development Committee, among others.
Hajiji also reminded the PPM that the government today was facing a big challenge due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We need to push for economic recovery activities but this is currently being impeded by the movement restrictions. Hopefully, when the pandemic is finally over in Sabah, we can go all out to boost the state’s economy,” he said.
