LABUAN: Former Member of Parliament for Labuan Datuk Suhaili Abd Rahman was elected as the newly-revived Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce Labuan (DPMM Labuan) during DPMM Labuan Establishment Meeting today.
He was elected by 54 founding old and new members of DPMM Labuan and was witnessed by DPMM central deputy president Norsyahrin Hamidon and vice president Amirhamzah Karim.
Suhaili said his appointment was an honour and huge responsibility to unite the local entrepreneurs for the Labuan’s socio economy and development.
“It is not merely an appointment to be proud of, but rather a responsibility to help the Malay entrepreneurs to stand at the same level with successful entrepreneurs, I must thank and appreciate the confidence of members comprise of old and new members who have been in business and professional… also thank to the central leaders of DPMM who witnessed today’s meeting,” he said to reporters after the meeting at the Tiara Hotel today.
DPMM was suspended by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) over questions surrounding its annual general meeting (AGM) in July and lifted in September and Labuan was the state received the suspension.
Norsyahrin said DPMM Labuan became the first in the country revived with the new line of the committee.
Suhaili said to eligible to be the DPMM Labuan members, one must not only have a trading license but also business operation and premises.
