Foong Hin Chan Appointed Chairman Of Labuan Port Authority

LABUAN: DAP Member of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu Chan Foong Hin had been appointed as the chairman of the regulatory body of Labuan Port Authority (LPA).

Chan confirmed this when contacted today after the post had been widely speculated in a local daily.

The post was left vacant by former MCA Tanjung Piai assemblyman Datuk Wee Jeck Seng following the Barisan Nasional’s (BN) defeat in the 14th general election.

“I have received the appointment letter from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) before the Chinese New Year and I have not report official duty as yet,” he said.

He said the board members had not been appointed, who comprises as many believed to follow the tradition structure of among the leaders from the ruling government component parties.

“The appointment letter I received is only as the chairman not as executive chairman, and the vacant seats of the board members must be filled up first,” he said.

Chan said before giving further information pertaining to his appointment, he must know his task as the chairman of the authority.

It was learnt Chan was having meeting with DAP Labuan leaders and visit the port thereafter.
