TANJUNG ARU: 1,000 families severely affected by the Covid-19 outbreak on Tuesday received food packs from State Assemblyman Datuk Junz Wong.

When met by reporters, Junz said the first phase of the aid consisting 500 packs are for families who have loved ones tested positive or quarantined, OKUs and those who rely on day to day income like hawkers, small stall owners and daily workers in Tanjung Aru and Petagas, Putatan.

He added, another 500 food packs will be delivered to Pulau Gaya families this Friday, bringing the total to 1,000 packs.

“The 1,000 food packs consist of 5kg of rice, 1 tray of eggs, 1kg of flour, 1kg of sugar, 1kg of salt, 1 pack of cooking oil, 2 bundle packs of instant noodles and 2kg of basung fish.”

Junz also thanked good samaritan Mr Jacky Ho for his kindness to contribute 1 tonne of basung fish to his constituents and the frontliners and patients in QE hospital.”

The distribution operation was monitored by Dr. Omar Kwang Kugan who is a Health Ministry officer in charge of Penampang and Putatan.

“We want to help as many as possible, and we want to do it without risking volunteers and recipients to contracting Covid-19. Dr. Omar was here to help with that” he said.

Together at the programme was Putatan Division WARISAN Chief Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah, Putatan Division WIRA Chief Mr. Firdaus and Putatan Division WIRAWATI Chief Miss Izzatul.

Junz advised all parties to continue uniting and cooperating.

“Please stay at home, observe social distancing if you have to go out for necessities and be hygienic at all times.”
