KOTA KINABALU: Do not take things for granted as every vote counts, said incumbent Api Api Assemblyman Datuk Christina Liew.
Speaking at a ceramah session organised by Sabah DAP at Damai Plaza here, she related how she heard certain voters saying that they need not go to the polls on September 26 as caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal ‘is sure to win the 16th State Election’.
“I think staying away from the polls is not advisable and rather risky. Regardless of the current political landscape, every vote matters,” said Christina who is defending her seat on a PKR ticket in the September 26 polls.
“I therefore urge the electorate to turn up in full force on polling day. Your ballots are indeed decisive to ensure a big majority for Warisan Plus (comprising Warisan, DAP, PKR, UPKO and Amanah).
“A huge electoral victory for Warisan Plus will determine the formation of a strong and stable government in Sabah,” she told the audience.
Liew stressed that the focus now is on winning the polls.
“After the election, we will address the pressing need to enact anti-hop legislation in a bid to put the political frogging culture to rest.”
For the convenience and comfort of senior citizens, she said she would be providing wheelchairs at each of the five polling centres in the Api Api Constituency.
“Don’t worry, I will have people stationed there to render the necessary assistance, so do not hesitate to come out and fulfil your constitutional right to vote,” she advised.
