Tawau district police chief, ACP Peter Umbuas said the RT representative of each block or the RT sector head had the role of assisting the Social Welfare Department in managing the distribution of aid to the residents.
“Besides that, if outsiders wish to send daily necessities to residents in areas under the EMCO, they could directly contact the RT representative or RT sector head who will fetch the necessities and hand over these to the recipients.”
Peter who said this to reporters while viewing the implementation of the EMCO in Taman Semarak, added that the RT members involved in the aid distribution were under the purview of the National Unity Department.
He said health personnel were also stationed at Taman Semarak for the benefit of residents requiring a medical check-up or treatment.
“In emergency cases, they will be taken to hospital straight away,” he added.
On Oct 24, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Yaacob said that enforcement of the EMCO in Taman Semarak and Sri Balung People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Tawau involved 4,266 homes and 21,470 residents to tackle the rising cases of COVID-19 in these areas.
