Elderly Couple, Four Children Left Homeless As Fire Guts Wooden House

LABUAN: An elderly couple and their four children were left homeless on Wednesday afternoon when their wooden house at Jalan Merinding was razed to the ground.

The owner, aged 65, and his 66 year-old wife, were not at home when the incident happened.

Their four children were also not at home.

No casualties were reported in the 1pm incident. Firemen took less than an hour to put out the blaze.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director, Zainal Madasin said neighbours alerted the Bomba and 20 personnel in two fire trucks were despatched to the scene.

He said the cause of the fire and damages were still being ascertained.
