Eight Massage Parlours Raided In Labuan; Illegal Immigrant Detained



LABUAN – Eight massage parlours cum reflexology centres here were raided and the management of three were issued compounds for flouting licensing conditions under the Tourism Industry Act 1992.

The two-day raids carried out involved various enforcement agencies comprising the Labuan Ministry of Tourism and Culture office (MOTAC), Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK), Labuan Corporation (LC), police and Road Transport Department.

According to a statement issued by MOTAC, apart from massage parlours, the operation also focused on the operation of 15 tourism-related businesses.

“The operation which was based on the national blue ocean strategy (NBOS) involved 50 personnel from various agencies. We also held road blocks with 15 summonses and nine warning slips issued.

“An illegal immigrant was also detained during the operation,” said MOTAC.

It also said the objective of the operation was to educate the owners to comply with the rules and regulations of the local council.
