KOTA SAMARAHAN: A crocodile might have eaten 38-year-old Ismandi Osman who was reported missing near Kampung Pinang here on Friday night, said Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Department acting chief Ahmad Shah Saad.
Ahmad said the Fire and Rescue Department came to this conclusion after a search and rescue operation found evidence of a struggle at the spot where Ismandi was checking his fishing net.
He added that information obtained from villagers showed that the river was teeming with crocodiles, saying that boats collided with crocodiles twice during search and rescue efforts.
“During the operation which covered a radius of two or three kilometres from the location where Ismandi was reported missing, teams found more than 10 crocodiles in the river,” he said.
This is the second crocodile attack in six days.
On Monday, 19-year-old Sylvester Kilat Lee fell from the Kampung Baru Bridge about seven kilometres from Kampung Pinang.
His half-eaten lower body was found two days later roughly two kilometres from the site where Ismandi was reported missing.
