SANDAKAN – A male toilet caretaker at the 16th Mile Gum-Gum Farmers’ Market was found dead with a stab wound in the workers’ room at the toilet of the farmers’ market, Saturday.
Sandakan District Police Chief, ACP Zabidi Mohd Zain said the 26-year-old victim had a wound on the right rib believed to have been caused by a sharp instrument.
He said the victim was the eldest of three siblings who had started work only three months ago as a toilet caretaker at the farmers’ market.
He said usually the victim would go back with his father after completing work but on the day of the incident, he had not done so because he was waiting to meet someone.
The victim was found dead at about 5.45am by his father, Zabidi said.
In TAWAU, a Pos Laju van reported missing yesterday was recovered in the bushes near an old sawmill at Batu Empat Kampung Hidayat near here, Saturday.
Tawau District police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the van belonging to Pos Malaysia which was believed to be stolen was found at about 8.40 this morning, however, all postal items in the van were missing.
“The van was taken to the police station and a fingerprint search is being carried out,” he told Bernama here, Saturday.
On Friday, a Pos Malaysia worker reported that the van he was driving went missing when he had left it unattended for five minutes to deliver customer’s goods at about 3.20 pm in Perdana Square.
The victim then tried to see the footage captured by a closed-circuit television footage at a shop nearby, and found an unknown male suspect getting away with the vehicle.
