Covid-19: Two Deaths Reported in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has recorded two deaths from the Covid-19 outbreak, including one participant of the tabligh event held at the Sri Petaling Mosque, here.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the two victims are a 34-year-old man who died at the Permai Hospital, Johor and a 60-year-old man who succumbed to the virus at the Sarawak General Hospital.

The younger patient was a tabligh participant and had started having symptoms since March 5 before he was admitted to the Permai Hospital on March 12.
However, his condition deteriorated and was then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, the patient in Sarawak had a history of chronic illness and began showing symptoms of Covid-19 infection on March 7 before he was hospitalised on March 14.

The patient’s health deteriorated and was then admitted to the ICU.

To date, 120 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported, including 95 cases related to the tabligh gathering.

In total, there are 673 reported cases in Malaysia, including 49 that have made a recovery.
