COVID-19: Sabah suspends passenger boats for Menumbok-Labuan route effective immediately

All passenger boat or ‘bot penambang’ services plying Menumbok-Labuan route are suspended with immediate effect.

Sabah state secretary Datuk Safar Untong in a statement today said the state government also had decided to limit the operation of passenger and ro-ro ferries.

The ferry services for Menumbok-Labuan are as follow:

  • Galaxy – 6 am and 4 pm (Sundays only)
  • Putrajaya I – 9 am
  • Kimanis – 1 pm
  • Goodwill – 8 pm

For the Labuan-Menumbok route:

  • Putrajaya I – 6 am
  • Kimanis – 3.30 pm
  • Goodwill – 5.30 pm
  • Galaxy – 6.30 pm

Safar who is also Sabah COVID-19 Command Centre chairman said the state government had also agreed to halt the movement of Gaya Island residents to the mainland with immediate effect except for essential services and transporting essential goods.

Besides that, the Sabah government also directed the authorities to carry out roadblocks at all district borders until March 31 to break the chain of the COVID-19 infection.
