COVID: 159 New Cases Reported, One Cluster Ends In Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded 159 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number in the state to 9,924.

The State Disaster Management Committee in a statement said Sibu district reported 52 cases, Betong (49), Kuching (18), Bintulu (15), Miri (nine), Sarikei (five), Dalat and Samarahan (three each) and Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Marudi, Tatau and Subis (one each).

Meanwhile, 227 patients have recovered and been discharged, bringing the tally to 7,490 or 75.47 per cent of the total number of COVID-19 positive cases.

The Sarawak Health Department also declared the end of the Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh after no new cases were reported within a period of 28 days.

To date, 25 clusters are still active including the Jalan Muhibbah, Betong; Emperoh Jambu, Kuching; Jalan Green, Kuching; Buloh, Selangau; Jalan Ho Pin, Samarahan; Sungai Bakong, Meradong; Kejatau, Sri Aman; Jan Yong, Kapit; Geronggang, Sibu;  Mas Merah, Sibu and Univista, Samarahan.

The others are Kampung Sungai Maong, Kuching; Kidurong Dua, Bintulu; Nanga Lijan, Julau; Seruas, Beluru; Sebangkoi, Sri Aman; Jun Heng, Bintulu; Bintang Daily, Meradong; Jalan Pengiran, Matu; Tabong, Bau; Indah Riang, Kuching; Rakut, Miri; Jelita, Miri; Gelong, Kapit and Pasai, Sibu, as well as a sub-cluster, Tangap, Subis.
