COVID: 140 New Cases, Two Deaths Recorded In Sarawak Today

KUCHING: A total of 140 new COVID-19 positive cases and two fatalities were recorded in Sarawak today, bringing the cumulative case figures to 14,514 infections and 99 deaths.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said the 98th death was the 13,143rd case, involving a local man, 71, who received emergency treatment at Sibu Hospital after experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding.

“The case was screened with the COVID-19 RT-PCR test and was confirmed positive on March 17, and his health deteriorated and he was confirmed dead on March 22. The case had comorbidities of stomach cancer, stroke and arterial fibrillation,” the statement said.

It said the 99th death was the 14,108th case, involving a local woman, 69, who was found unconscious at home by her family member.

An emergency team that arrived at the house confirmed the woman had died at her home on March 18 and the COVID-19 RT-PCR test conducted on her body at Sibu Hospital returned positive results on March 20. The case had no comorbidities.

Meanwhile, three clusters, Nanga Lijan in Julau, Univista in Samarahan and Kidurong Dua in Bintulu, were closed today after no new cases were detected for 28 days.
