Cops Ready For Polls

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police are geared up for the state election.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass said they were in the midst of making preparations for deployment and logistical support.

He said early preparations were important considering that 73 state seats will be contested compared to 60 previously.

“There could be new polling centres as well as new voting channels but whatever it is, we will wait for the decision from the Election Commission (EC),” he told reporters at the state police contingent headquarters in Kepayan here today.

“We will implement what the EC decides and the number of voting channels at each polling centre will determine the number of personnel to be deployed on polling day.”

Zaini said police would ensure everyone adhered to the standard operating procedures to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the election.
