Brunei reports five new Covid-19 cases, one patient recovers

Brunei reported another five new cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak on Saturday (March 21) following preliminary tests, bringing the country’s total to 78 cases.

According to Brunei’s Ministry of Health, Cases 74, 75, 76 and 77 are close contacts of Case 69, a local man who returned from a family holiday in Malaysia on March 11.

Case 78 is a 54-year old British national working in Brunei who arrived here on March 16.

Among all cases, two patients remain in critical condition but are recovering while five cases require intensive care.

The ministry also reported its first recovered Covid-19 case on Friday, saying the patient was ordered to be quarantined for seven days at home.

So far, a total of 1,664 people have been ordered to undergo quarantine and 2,468 laboratory tests for COVID-19 have been conducted.
