Body Of Man Reported Missing In Sungai Tamparuli Found

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man reported missing after he fell into a river near Taman Duta Villa, Tamparuli, here on Monday was found Wednesday morning.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in a statement said the body of the victim, identified as Tai Kee Ting, 29, was found by the villagers who were involved in a search and rescue operation at about 11.17am.

“The body of the victim was found floating by the river about 1.5 kilometers from where he was reported missing.The operation, which included 11 personnel and officers, was terminated at 12.08pm, ” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Tuaran fire station received a call about the incident at 10.28am on Monday and a search operation was carried out soon after.

The body was later handed over to police for further action.

In the Monday incident, the victim was said to be trying to cross the river using a ‘flying fox’ to carry out maintenance work. However, the steel structure collapsed causing the rope and the victim to fall into the river.
