Bilal Al-Falah Kepayan Mosque Incident, CM Urged To Allocate Financial Aid To Build Proper Road – Warisan

Kenneth briefed by Haji Malek Chua, Masjid Al Falah Chairperson at the location where the incident happened.

KOTA KINABALU: The unfortunate incident of an overdriven vehicle falling into a seven-meters high ravine from the grounds of the Al-Falah Kepayan Mosque has received attention from Parti Warisan branch of Kampung Kepayan.

In an incident that happened last Sunday, the late Tuan Haji Bali Kalat died in the emergency room from injuries sustained during the accident.

“We are saddened to hear this and hope the family of the deceased are patient in times like this.

“I have discussed with the chairman of the mosque, Haji Malek Chua and based on CCTV footage, the deceased lost control while driving up to the mosque grounds before falling into the gorge” said Kenneth Jayaraman, who is the Acting Secretary for Warisan Kampung Kepayan branch.

Haji Malek said that if there was a barrier built from the beginning of the construction of the mosque, it might be possible to prevent an incident like what had happened.

According to Kenneth, he was made to understand that the land concerned belongs to Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS) and the mosque received minimal allocation annually from Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Negeri Sabah (JHEAINS), apart from contributions from jemaah or mosque congregation to help in the basic operational costs.

Kenneth urged MUIS, JHEAINS or the Chief Minister to assist Masjid Al-Falah, Kepayan
in allocating more financial aids to help build a proper road with safety railing to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.

“The road leading up to Masjid Falah is quite steep, and drivers sometimes need to accelerate up and in the event of overdriven, at least any form of safety rail can stop vehicles from falling off the cliff.

“The cost of building one can be overwhelming to Masjid Al-Falah so MUIS, JHEAINS and the intervention from the Chief Minister can help in terms of financial allocation,” urged Kenneth.

Kenneth who was accompanied by Penampang Division Youth Chief, Ridhwan Razak took sometime talking to the bereaved family members and contributed some token to help ease their burden.
