LABUAN: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Labuan must be strong on its own and not depend merely on external cooperation and support to emerge as a reliable political party.
Bersatu Labuan youth (Armada) chief Fadilah Eddy Abd Khalid said it was important for the party to strengthen its footing in Labuan to ensure it is relevant to the current political scenario.
“We have an alliance with Umno and PAS, but we must correct ourselves and make ourselves strong.
“If Bersatu is strong it can continue gaining the people’s confidence. If we are strong, people will come to us, ” he said after the Bersatu Armada Labuan conference on Saturday.
Fadilah said for Bersatu to be strong, its members especially the youth members must change their attitude and be more spirited in fighting for the party’s struggles.
“If we can do this we can certainly survive in the next general election, ” he said.
He said people are beginning to reject Pakatan, as such Bersatu needs to grab this opportunity to win over the people.
“For this to happen, we need to stop doing things which people do not like and correct ourselves so that people will like us and support us, ” he said.
