KOTA KINABALU – Datuk Seri Musa Aman advised the leadership of Universiti Malaysia Sabah’s Student Representatives Council (MPP) to strike a fine balance between leadership duties and academics while they are students in the university.
The Sabah Chief Minister said the opportunity given to further studies at university level proved the government’s concern in ensuring a better future for the young generation while the chance to contest in campus elections gave them the opportunity to hone their leadership skills.
“The government’s commitment is to see that you achieve excellence and success in your studies and at the same time be competent student leaders who are responsible, open-minded and rational,” he said during a courtesy call to MPPUMS here Monday.
Elaborating Musa said the 2017 Budget tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last Friday proved that the interests of students in institutions of higher learning would never be neglected.
He said RM7.4 billion had been allocated to the 20 public universities in the country to improve on the quality of university education while RM4.3 billion had been set aside for scholarships.
