KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia does not recognise and will not entertain any claims by any party on Sabah, said Anifah Aman (photo), the Foreign Affairs Minister Wednesday.

“Anyone that makes a claim on Sabah is exposing their ignorance of history and international laws,” said Anifah in a statement.

“Statements such as these will only expose the ignorance of history and international law of those who make them, as well as potentially harming the excellent bilateral relations which Malaysia and the Philippines currently enjoy,” he added.

Anifah was responding to a claim on Sabah made by Aquilino Pimentel Jr, a member of the Philippines’ Consultative Committee, which appeared in the media recently.

In a tweet posting earlier, Abdul Rahman Dahlan the Member of Parliament for Kota Belud in response to the article in PhilStar online said:

“No …. You won’t! Sabah will be with Malaysia. Period.

Aquilino Pimentel Jr, the former Philippines Senate president was quoted as saying he would propose the inclusion of Sabah in the Philippine territory as part of the country’s shift to a federal system of government, when a consultative committee that President Rodrigo Duterte appointed, reviews the 1987 Constitution.
