Akjan Trial Set For Oct 26

KOTA KINABALU: Businessman Datu Mohd Akjan Ali Muhammad and his two sons will go on trial this October

on a charge of rioting at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Magistrate Afiq Agoes fixed hearing for Oct 26 during pre-trial case management here today.

Sixty-two-year-old Akjan and his sons Mahathir Datu Mohd Akjan, 27, and Mohd Ghazali Hanif Mohd Akjan, 21, stand charged with committing the offence together with two accomplices still at large at 7.45pm on Jan 19 this year.

On July 16 they had claimed trial to the charge under Section 147 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years and also liability of caning on conviction.

The three men were released on an extended court bail pending trial.
