COMMENT: The ‘Agenda Malaya’ and/or ‘Agenda Borneo’ is all about political and economic “supremacy” between Malaya and Sabah/Sarawak.
Since the formation of Malaysia in 1963, Malaya reigned supreme as they control 166 out of 222 parliament seats which made them the power behind the Federal Constitution. With this, they can legislate Federal laws unilaterally without Sabah and Sarawak.
Therefore if Sabah/Sarawak wants to checkmate Malaya they must have equal number of parliament seats. If the spirit of equal partnership of the MA63 were to be implemented then essentially this should have been emplaced in the first place.
But after 54 years, ‘Agenda Malaya’ is still supreme and getting stronger as Malayan parties sailed across the South China Sea to wrestle the Parliament and State seats from Sabah and Sarawak.
Today Sabah and Sarawak are just mere states in the federation. There is no room for ‘Agenda Borneo’.
The ‘Agenda Borneo’ was the platform for GE13 (13th general election) in which STAR Sarawak was used to fight for Sabah and Sarawak rights. But Jeffrey Kitingan dumped STAR Sarawak and formed Solidariti Sabah Tanah Airku (STAR) thus killing ‘Agenda Borneo’. Today ‘Agenda Borneo’ does not exist.
There are two levels of government in Malaysia: the state government and the federal government. There is only one way for a total ‘non-interference’ of Federal policies over Sabah and that is to secede from the federation. For as long as Sabah remains in Malaysia it cannot function separately from the federal government.
Why? Mainly because they collect the bulk of Sabah’s revenue and control the Armed Forces and military assets.
So where do this group of small parties which are only confined to 28 seats get their arrogance that they alone can restore Sabah’s rights?
How would they restore State’s rights if they can only win a few seats and not willing to work with anyone?
Why would they waste people’s time and money shouting meaningless slogans which they themselves know that they are unattainable?
Why do they tell the people that they can form the government alone but at the same time they telling them that they are not going all out to topple Umno-BN? Where is your conscience?
Parti Warisan Sabah is very clear about its mission; and that is to go all out to form a new government (in the state). This would make the people’s time, sacrifice and effort worthwhile.
We give our best, we want to change life for the better, we offer our best talents and minds to the people, we will sail the blue ocean even in rough seas to make a difference, we will climb the highest mountain to achieve our goals for Sabah’s posterity and all these… we will do it in peace and harmony with all Malaysians.
