52 nabbed in week-long drug operation in Kota Kinabalu


KOTA KINABALU: Fifty-two individuals were arrested for various drug-related offences in a week-long operation around the city from Sept 14.

Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Supt George Abd Rakman said all those arrested were aged between 16 and 57 years, of which 21 of them were foreigners.

“In the operation, police also seized 14.87 grammes of syabu and 9.7 grammes of ketamine worth RM2,198,” he said in a statement here today.

He added efforts to curb drug addiction and drug trafficking in Kota Kinabalu will be intensified.

In a separate operation, George said police also detained 10 illegal immigrants in a six-hour operation conducted in several locations in the city.

All the suspects, aged between 16 and 55 years are being investigated under Section 6 (1) (C) Immigration Act 1959/63, he added.
