13 Individuals In Labuan Compounded Defying COVID-19 SOP

LABUAN: Thirteen individuals were detained by the police for defying the standard operating procedure of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) in food premises here last night.

Acting Labuan police chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said said all of them aged between 28 and 48 years old were each compounded of RM1,000, under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020, failing which, they will be prosecuted in court.

Among the offences include failing to comply with physical distancing (11) and the reminaing for failure to register with the My Sejahtera app for COVID-19 contact tracing upon entered the food premise.

“We have 12 monitoring teams working round the clock to monitor the movement of the people in town centre and recreational spots,” he said.

He reminded a warrant of arrest could be issued against those who failed to appear in court for the charges (failure to settle the compound).
