KOTA KINABALU – To make this year’s Chinese New Year Carnival more meaningful and memorable, the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) is hosting a dinner for a group of ‘special guests’ comprising of 100 senior citizens.
Also, 20 children who are suffering from Thalassemia, have been invited for the Thanksgiving Night that will be held on January 24.
These special guests will also receive Ang Pao and gift bags sponsored by the Sabah Restaurants Fellowship Association and the Sabah Confectionery and Bakery Association.
The Ang Pao and gift bags will be given away by the wife to Chief Minister Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Faridah Haji Tussin who is also the guest-of-honour for the occasion.
Disclosing this was FCAS president Datuk Seri Panglima T.C Goh in a statement issued here Friday.
“We are grateful to the Sabah Restaurants Fellowship Association and the Sabah Confectionery and Bakery Association for sponsoring the Ang Pao and gift bags, and we also thank our vice president cum Chairman of Welfare Bureau Kapitan Lim Vun Chan, for serving the dinner,” he said.
He went on to note that among the highlights for the Thanksgiving Night will be a special performance by Datuk Susan Wong, the vice president of FCAS cum organizing chairlady for the Chinese New Year Carnival.
Besides this, the Thalassemia children too will be joining the other performing groups like Kian Kok Middle School and the Nyang Guang choir group, and the FCAS Cultural Bureau in entertaining the audience.
Meanwhile, Goh was delighted to note that the Chinese New Year Carnival Singing contest, which final will be held on the same night, had received an encouraging response from the public, with a total of 28 contestants participating in it.
However, only 15 contestants will be selected to the semifinal and 5 contestants to the final.
All contestants are required to attend the rehearsal at the Padang Merdeka, on 22 January, at 4.30pm.
