100 Warisan Members In Putatan Quit Party To Join STAR

KOTA KINABALU: About 100 Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) members from the Putatan division have quit the party and joined Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) today.

Former Putatan Warisan division Wanita chief Noraini Omar who led the group said among the reasons to leave the party was to ensure their participation in empowering the women at the respective division.

“It is our hope to join STAR to empower the women in this division, thus improving their economy.

“As we know, many of them are poor and require assistance. So, among our efforts to empower them is by strengthening the division level,” she said in a news conference here, today.

STAR secretary-general Senator Datuk Guan Dee Koh Hoi and STAR Putatan coordinator Philip Among also present.

Meanwhile, Guan Dee said the mass entry into STAR showed that the party was gaining a place in the hearts of Sabah people.

“We always welcome new members to further strengthen the party,” he said.
