KOTA KINABALU: Tonight, the first official trailer for the new Kadazan language film Huminodun will be launched at an invite only event at La Vintage Bar and Grill from 7:00 until 10:00 pm.

The event will be hosted by Datuk Francis Goh with Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan as the Guest of Honour.

Other invited guests at the function will include Datuk Masidi Manjun, Tan Sri Dr. Herman Luping, Datuk Dr Clarence Bongkos Malakun and District Officer for Penampang Puan Lovita Koisun.

Local company Siung Films Sdn. Bhd. with assistance from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Environment Sabah is producing the Huminodun movie.

Alexandra Alexander stars as Huminodun.

The project has been underway for the last two years and the filmmakers hope that the release of the trailer at the upcoming event will help generate further interest from the viewing public, along with potential financial support to complete this film’s visual and sound effects.

At the event Goh, an Executive Producer and financier for the film, will be presenting a cheque to the film’s producers on behalf of the Kinsabina Group.

He hopes that the Kinsabina Group’s investment will excite other potential backers at the event to also come forward and help the filmmakers complete the movie by partnering with them in advertising and marketing opportunities.

With the filming now completed using nearly one hundred percent Sabahan cast and crew, the company is now concentrating on the final stages of post-production in order to complete the movie in time for a May/June release.

One of the filmmakers behind Siung Films is Josephine Luping, a producer with roots in Sabah and New Zealand who is best known for her documentary Reframe about the Palestinian Israeli conflict.

Working with her is Aaron Cowan, who has worked for the last 24 years on large Hollywood productions such as the Lord of the Rings and Avatar.

As Josephine says – “We are very excited to be telling this important Sabahan story. Putting our language and culture on the big screen has been our dream for a long time and we are very excited about being a step closer today.

“We are fortunate to be able to have someone with Aaron’s experience in international film-making to combine with our local Sabah talent to develop Sabah-boleh-magic.”

Goh says that it is important to invest in the culture of Sabah and believes that, as a senior member of the Sino-Kadazan community he is in a position to lead by example. As he puts it, “Our cultural heritage must be preserved and promoted.”

Goh, of sino-dusun parentage encourages all Kadazan leaders and establishments to support the production of the Movie. He said it is important that we must stand united to promote and to protect our Kadazan heritage and culture together.

The Associate Producer of the movie and Organising Chairperson of the launch event, Boni Mosios, expressed his sincere gratitude to the support received from Goh.

Luping, the Executive Producer of the movie, also attended a recent courtesy visit to Datuk Goh to express his thanks.
