SEMPORNA: The action of vice president of Parti Warisan Sabah, Junz Wong who often questioned the government-related issues that have been resolved or clarified during State Assembly sitting is considered as irrelevant action.
State Umno Deputy Head of Information, Datuk Ramlee Marahaban said his action was seen aims to undermine the credibility Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders and not for the people, as he claimed.
Ramlee in respond to the open letter by Junz Wong, who is also the Assemblyman for Likas said all the question on the letter which related to the outsourcing water project have been answered during the State Assembly Sitting on November 19, last year.
He said that clear answer has been given, and he has also made clear that the tender is given according to the procedures.
Ramlee elaborate that the appointment of companies for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) was made following the lack of manpower faced by Sabah Water Department to operate the plant as sufficient labor sourced are needed to supply water to the people in the area concerned.
He said Sabah Finance Ministry also provide full cooperation to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the case involving the Director of Sabah Water Department and his Deputy who have been investigated and charged. More than 200 witnesses have also called to testified on the case.
However, he said no further explaination needed to answer the question raised by Junz Wong since it is just a political attack and related issues to the project have been made clear during the State Assembly Sitting.
“I believed that his action was only to undermine the credibility of Barisan Nasional leaders and not for the people.
“If he wants to uphold the truth for the people, why he did not question the projects undertaken by the President of Parti Warisan Sabah, Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal, who is former Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW),” said Ramlee.
Ramlee who is also the Assistant Minister of Finance claimed that several projects undertaken by Shafie under KKLW were not functional and some amount of funds for the implementation of water Project in Pulau Gaya were reported missing.
He said among the projects implemented by Shafie under KKLW are the water pipe replacement in Tongod which the pipes were not replaced also the paved road projects which constructed in private plantation such as in Semporna that clearly did not bring benefit for the people.
The water projects in Sungai Intan, Semporna that worth RM48 million and Balung, also the Solar Electric Supply at seven islands in Semporna worth RM94 million were not implemented properly which clearly shows waste of public money and this matter should be investigate by MACC.
He also added that the issue should not arise as Sabah Finance Ministry always perform duties in accordance with procedures and always collaborates with the MACC.
