Umno Youth Lodges Police Report Against FB User, Blog For Fake News

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno Youth lodged a police report against an online portal and a Facebook user for allegedly making claims that Umno was registering illegal voters for the coming general election.

The state youth secretary Mohd Bahrin Karim said that the report was against a Facebook user going by the name user DKay HjEsin HjEsin Dkay and portal malaysiannews.blogspot.

In a statement issued here after lodging a police report at the Karamunsing police station, he said the accusations were false.

He said that they wanted both the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commisison (MCMC) to act immediately against the people behind such fake claims and news as it was aimed to put Umno and Barisan Nasional in a bad light in the state.

Among the other allegations claims National Registration Department had issued been issued recipts to register as new voters in the proposed 13 new state seats in Sabah.

“We want firm action against the people positing these articles and sharing it. We believe that is clear they wants to create hate against Umno,’’ he said Friday.

The Facebook user had provided links to the portal’s articles that included “Umno Mula Daftar Warga Asing untuk Persediaan PRU 14 di Sabah” (Umno has begun registering foreigners in preparation for 14th General Election.

The alleged postings of the articles were done last year but was shared commented by the Facebook user on Thursday.
