Six Soldiers Injured As Military Truck Plunges Into Ravine Near Lahad Datu

KUNAK – Six soldiers were injured after the military truck they were travelling in skidded and plunged into a ravine at Ladang Sabahan at Km34 Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu near here Sunday.

District police chief Supt Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir said the truck was carrying nine soldiers including three women in the 1.30pm crash.

“They are now being treated at the Lahad Datu Hospital,” he said in a statement Sunday.

State fire and rescue operation centre chief Katizah Rahaban said the department received a distress call on the incident at 1.43pm.

“We deployed 12 personnel from the Lahad Datu station to the scene and the team was assisted by two volunteer firefighters from Silam.

“The victims comprised four men and two women. All victims were taken to the Lahad Datu hospital,” she said.

The victims who were seriously injured include Rozana Bt Ismail, 36, Aslan Bin Boneo, 24, Rosmawati @ Norhayati Bt Tayalan, 40, and Latif Bin Ibrahim, 32.

Nursahaya Bt Radjail, 39, and Datu Mohd Saipul Bin Awang Kumit, 25, received slight injuries and were given outpatient treatment.
