PENAMPANG – Traffic lights or even a roundabout fronting the Kg. Limbanak/Kg. Kituau entrance is very much needed for residents living in the vicinity, the Member of Parliament of Penampang said Wednesday.
The congested situation being experienced daily by thousands of people pose a safety risk to them, apart from needless delays to work or to send their children to school, said Darell Leiking.
Leiking, who is also Parti Warisan Sabah deputy president said based on the visual of the traffic flow (as per the likely road design in this construction period), the thousands of villagers as well students of the Villages / Schools will be heavily inconvenienced.
“They are subjected to delayed arrival for their school sessions and also cause numerous hazards or dangers to exiting vehicles when they go onto the main road,” he pointed out.
“As the vehicles exiting Kampung Limbanak, Bokok, Kituau and many more villages deeper inside, they must now have to exit and do a U-turn either at the entry of Kampung Sugud or Maang.”
The same problems are also faced by the villagers at the Kampung Dambai junction onto the Kg. Penampang Proper and several villages inside the vicinity.
The St Michael’s Secondary School and the St. Joseph Primary School as well as the Maternity Home and thousands of residents use the same entrance and exit at the Dambai junction.
Stressing the inconvenience is unbearable and a potential to road safety hazards, Leiking appealed to the Public Works Department as well as the local authorities to consider improvements, either temporarily, or permanently.
