SANDAKAN, Police have detained a man to facilitate in the investigations into the case involving an oil palm plantation owner who was slashed at a village in Peringkat 4 Sungai Manila near here last Tuesday.
Sandakan police chief ACP Azhar Hamin said the suspect, aged 48, was picked up at his house in the same village at 12.45 am Wednesday.
He said in the 7.32pm incident, the 38-year-old victim sustained injuries on his back after being slashed with a sharp object.
“The incident occurred when the victim went to check his plantation after he saw a glimpse of a person with torch light, thinking that could be oil palm fruits thief.
“While walking into the plantation, he man was hit from behind and fainted on his way home,” Azhar said in a statement here Thursday.
He said the victim sought treatment at the Duchess of Kent Hospital here and currently in stable condition.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
