KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sasa Malaysia (Bersama) or Malaysia United People’s Party (MUPP) has agreed to work and provide its symbol to a group of independents in the coming general election.
The independent group has styled themselves as 3B which stands for Bersama Bebas Bersatu and headed by veteran politician Anthony Mandiau from Kota Marudu.
Bersama’s acting president, Phillip Among, said the 3B is now tasked to help the Party run its administration in the party’s Sabah chapter.
“We have formed a 13-member steering committee, made up of members of the 3B and the existing party members,” said Phillip adding that Bersama is gearing up for an imminent election.
Anthony meanwhile said many local leaders have lost confidence in many of the Sabah’s seasoned politicians especially those who have been in power or stage for far too long.
“We in 3B and Bersama would reject politics of proxy as practised by many of the current local parties. We have evidences for saying so and we will tell the people.
“And so we call on both the young and old leaders to come forward to offer themselves as alternatives to these stooges and proxies,” he said.
Both leaders also claimed several more good leaders would join the new group.
