Power Thief Electrocuted In Attempt To Make Illegal Connection

SEMPORNA – This is what could happen when you make an attempt to steal electricity from the main power line.

A man played high stakes with his life when he thought he could get electricity without paying for it.

His body was found dangling on an electricity pole at Jalan Bubul Lama, here Saturday afternoon.

Semporna Fire station chief Fazizul Hizham Borhan said the man, identified as Mohd Said Jainol, 35, was believed to have been electrocuted while making an illegal power connection.

“The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted about hanging body at 3.30pm and sent two fire engines and seven personnel to the scene,” he said in a statement here Saturday.

The Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) technical team was also dispatched to the scene to help bring down the body.

Semporna police chief Supt Peter Umbuas confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
