Elderly Man Searching for Kelubi In Forest Found Safe After Getting ‘Lost’

MUKAH – An elderly man, who went missing while searching for asam paya fruits (kelubi) in the jungle in Jalan Kampung Bakong, Oya since Friday morning, was found safe the following day.

Mukah Fire and Rescue Station chief Bonny Martin said the victim known as Sidek Bakrii, aged 75, was found by the villagers in a fatigue state.

According to him, the septuagenarian was found at 3.45 pm in an area near Kampung Bakong.

He said a team of four personnel rushed to the location upon receiving the missing person report at 3.21 pm.

Sidek was reported to have left the house at 10 am on Friday but failed to return home, prompting his family members to lodge a report to get help to find him.
