KOTA MARUDU: Education is the ultimate solution for socio-economic improvement.
Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili in disclosing this said through education, one can also help uplift their families out of poverty.
“Poverty should not be an excuse to failing. I always believe in one motto – if others can do it, I can too,” said the Kota Marudu Member of Parliament, Monday.
He said this at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kota Marudu Parents Teachers Association’s annual general meeting cum presentation of the 1Malaysia Special Early School Aid to 920 students at the school hall, here.
He however added that for education programmes to be successful, there is a need for support and cooperation from all parties.
“Teachers, parents, students and the community leaders, including the corporate sector, must also play their roles.
“We cannot depend solely on government to drive the education sector,” said Ongkili.
He noted the case of Sekolah Kebangsaan Magandai and SMK Kota Marudu for their success in boosting education sector, attributing it to the cooperation and support of all parties.
“Education is the best asset for economic progress,” he said.
