Cops Seize Contraband Cigarettes In Kunak; Illegals Arrested In Menggatal


KUNAK: The police have detained two men and seized 10,140 cartons of contraband cigarettes worth RM35,000 during a raid at a house in Kampung Kadazan near here early Tuesday.

In a statement, Kunak police chief Supt Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir said the suspects, aged 25 and 67, were picked up in the 2.45am raid.

In another case, the police detained a man and seized 33.20g of syabu at a junction in Jalan Ladang Tingkayu here Monday.

The 31-year-old man was riding a motorcycle about 7.30pm when he was nabbed.

Nasaruddin said the suspect tested positive for drugs, adding the syabu was worth about RM2,500.

In KOTA KINABALU, police arrested 13 illegal immigrants under ‘Op Bersepadu PTI’ around Pekan Menggatal and Inanam, near here early Tuesday.

Kota Kinabalu City police chief ACP M. Chandra said those detained, aged between two and 53 years, were among 35 individuals checked in the five-hour operation starting from 1.30am on the rented shop-houses and squatter houses in the area.

“Police also arrested two men who tested positive for drugs,” he said in a statement later Tuesday.
