‘Conteng-Bah’ Promises a Fun-Filled Weekend At Jesselton Artisan Market

KOTA KINABALU: “Conteng-Bah” a celebration by Sabahan entrepreneurs and artists showcasing their own creative products and services, namely in arts and crafts, will be held at Riverson Mall, this weekend (July 22 and 23, 2017) from 10.00 am until 10.00 pm.

The two-day event is brought together by HIVE STUDIO together with DOODLES MALAYSIA and Jesselton Artisan Market.

Sponsored by Riverson Mall, and supported by UMS, KK Jazz festival, Sabah Institute of Art, and Sabah Tourism this is an event not to be missed.

A spokesperson for the organisers said it will be held alongside with KK Jazz festival during nightfall, Conteng-Bah! takes up tourists, curious participants and Jazz goers during the two-day event.

There will be features of Sabahan artists and art likewise to commemorate Sabah culture and identity in the art freedom of expression.

“A first of its kind, we aim to create a linkage between Sabahan art with the world,” said the spokesperson. “This is an event where the Doodle Community has a ‘meet & greet’ and showcases all their talents and creativity in a physical space instead of the usual FB Community page.”

Various activities, performances and vendors would be present to liven the event.

Jesselton Artisan Market would be bringing in 70 SMEs and artists vendors participation, the Conteng-Bah! vendors are art and culture inclined for every child, childlike adults and adults alike.

Merchandise, homemade products, and artistic finds would be available for purchase and sightsee.

Delightful family-friendly activities and programs are available from Tha’ Doodict Collision Art Battle, Art Exhibition by Persatuan Seni Visual Sabah, SEEDS, and Healing Arty and amazing numbers of workshops ranging from Colouring by Marty Woods, Watercolour by Jerome Liew, and Zentangle by Sarah Salim, for children and adults alike.

“As an art community that brings upon everyone togetherness in one venue, we are inclusive on having every child of every aspect to join us; there would be a special Colors & Senses workshop by Doodict Group for deaf children to be conducted with Dr Pamela, from SEEDs joining us too,” she added

Light Busker performances, art culture and lovely community would be there to set the great art ambience Conteng-Bah! plans to bring out to public. Book these weekend dates and bring everyone you know to here, Kota Kinabalu Sabah at Riverson Mall on 22nd and 23rd July 2017 from 10:00am to 10:00pm.

The programme will be launched by Kamerlin Ombi, assistant minister of Tourism and the closing by the mayor.

This is part of initiative to promote free and easy art as tourism product and providing the city dwellers with positive activities.

There will be crossover activities with the kk jazz festival where the doodlers will demonstrate live doodleling during the festival and maybe auction some of the work is suitable
