KOTA KINABALU: Burglars targeted the corporate office of Parti Cinta Sabah president Datuk Wilfred Bumburing on the second floor of a unit at Nountun Industrial Estate here either late Monday night or sometime early Tuesday morning.
The culprits also raided the PCS party headquarters on the first floor and carted away Bumburing’s laptop and two hard disc drives containing important files, his press secretary Lesaya Lopog Sorudim said Tuesday.
Lesaya said they were surprised that the burglars only targeted Bumburing and the PCS’ office, as the adjacent business offices, both on the first and second floors was spared as the intruders could have easily entered either one.
A police report has been filed.
According to Lesaya, when he came into the office at 9:30am Tuesday morning, he was startled to see papers strewn all over the place and wires and cables for the alarm system pulled down and scattered.
The intruders apparently forced their way into both units by cutting and bending the iron grill at the fire exit, he added.
“Of the equipment that were in the office, both the first and second floor, only the desktop computer used by Petrus Guriting, the PCS secretary general and Bumburing’s laptop were gone,” he said.
“The office has CCTV surveillance cameras but none were installed at the back part of the building. We are still looking through the strewn files to determine if any particular file or files are missing.”
Lesaya thanked the Menggatal and Inanam Police team for their swift response in coming to investigate, and he said they are leaving to the police to carry out their investigation.
